Sometimes when I'm shelving my TOPPS cart in the morning before the stores open I come across a title towards the end of the cart that makes me say, 'What the fuck', or 'Jesus fucking Christ you've got to be kidding me', or sometimes just 'Jesus Christ'. The books that cause this reaction always come from the very last section on the cart, the Christian Inspiration section.
Apparently this book has been in my section for years, but today is the first time I noticed it. The name is kind of innoce

I read this book many years ago, it was an assignment I had in a class about demon-possession and spiritual deliverance ministry. It is a book I will keep all my life and over the years have used it many, many times to help people who struggle with religious issues and strongholds in their Christian walk.
This book provides a bleak glimpse into the minds of some extremely deluded people. It purports to be a 'practical guide to deliverance,' an instruction manual on casting out demons from the possessed. In fact, it is a book-length recipe for disaster, an amalgam of dangerous misinformation. For example, schizophrenia (incorrectly identified as multiple personality disorder) is explained as a 'nest of demon spirits,' and the book presents illustrated instructions on how to drive these demons out....more

This book is as unBiblical as can be. It breeds fear and superstition. The author attributes, credits and/or blames demons for sinful actions and thoughts. In the book we find the demons of lust, nicotine, obesity, slouthfulness, etc. What the Scriptures ascribe to the desires our old sinful nature or our willful acts of disobedience; it describes as Christian demonization or attack. Where this in one sense leaves the person, particularly the believer as a victum and not responsible; it fails to...more
Great book, read it at least twice a year. Great for spiritual warfare. This is an area the body of Christ are uneasy with. However it was a part of Christ Ministry and as followers of Christ we cannot ignore it.
Written years ago, this book is one of the classics on deliverance ministry. The bulk of Frank and Ida Hammond's insight on confrontational spiritual warfare comes from their years of experience in the ministry. Although not as solidly based in scripture as Derek Prince's book, THEY SHALL EXPEL DEMONS, this volume is useful in explaining how demons become established in a person's life and how Christians can assert God-given authority to remove them. Unique to these authors is a section about sc...more

Excellent book with tons of practical advice!
The best book I've read on deliverance so far, mainly because of the extensive practical advice given.
Highly recommended for people who have some experience already and want to grow in this type of ministry.

I'm not dismissing this subject, because it's very real, but this book arouses unnecessary fear and suspicion.
Awesome study on demons. I have read it 3 times and I will continue to read it over and over again. I get new revelation each time I read it. I recommend the workbook too.

I believe in demon possession and oppression, but these people take it to a whole new level--tin foil hat territory. Anything--literally anything--can be a demon manifestation...and Christians aren't immune. Frank and his wife Ida Mae even talk about casting demons out of each other!!! *Cue X-files theme music* There are some things that ring true in this book, but they are so interspersed with kooky theology and unverifiable statements that I cannot recommend this book. This book could actually...more

A wonderfully practical and down to earth book about spiritual warfare in general, and deliverance from demons in particular. The reader of this book will discover a useful guide to understanding the deliverance ministry and will learn practical advice for recognizing and casting out demons. I cannot comprehend how anyone can read the Bible and not understand the need for dealing with demons as part of regular ministry. The Bible records Jesus performing deliverance on many occasions and Christi...more
There is good information in this book. We had a few encounters of casting out demons, and from the information in this book helped us out very much. Many lack the information on what to do, and when there is someone wanting freedom from their oppression. Christians need this nowdays to help them to be equipped for battle within their ministry, within their home, and especially within their own lives. I understand that many will have a resistance from the enemy from reading this book. Because th...more
What we don't know can actually hurt us when it comes to the spiritual world. This book explains the world in an understandable way that equips the believer to fight effectively. Satan and his demons are REAL and they possess and oppress all humanity. Via knowlege people can avoid perishing. By knowledge of the authority believers' have in Christ they can stand against oppression and live in freedom. Page by page, the Hammond help the reader learn where the pigs (demons and spirits) have raided...more

This book was recommended to me by a very good friend. I did not find that the content was palatable or that this was an easy read. Spiritually, I struggled with some concepts. I also took issue with some points from the perspective of a mental health provider. I will say that it is structured in a way that makes information accessible and that it's thorough. However, this is not a book I would visit again in the near future.

My mother had this book on her shelf for years. Never looked at it. One day I decided to purchase it myself because of walking into a church where they were doing deliverance. This is a great guide.
Interesting in so many ways. I really enjoyed reading this.

What an absolute load of nonsense that was, I've read a few books on this subject and whilst I don't necessarily believe it I find it extremely interesting and love reading about it.
This book however could actually be quite dangerous for all the wrong reasons, if someone who was easily led and extremely vulnerable was to read this it could be extremely damaging to them.
I found it laughable most of the time but I still couldn't help but think how if someone was actually suckered in

This book contains a wealth of practical information for the person interested in or actively engaged in the ministry of deliverance. The church is fast awakening to the need for this ministry. It represents one facet of the restoration work of the Holy Spirit within the church today.
This book encourages God's children who cohabit with spiritual swine that there is a better life. The book explains that the church is the bride of Christ and Christ is coming for His bride. Scripture declares that

Unbiblical, makes me feel paranoid, and makes schizophrenics out to be lunatics who are separated wholly from the mental health world (or from reality generally). This man must be out of his mind and need some deliverance for himself. There are far more uplifting ways of emphasizing the healing ministry of Jesus. He emphasizes human control over demons rather than Jesus' control over them, and submitting to His authority. He reminds me of a typical Pentecostal/charismatic. Just a total raving lu...more

One of the best books I have read on this subject
An education in spiritual warfare and deliverance ministry. Comfortable writing style and humbly presented in such a manner as to instill confidence in the reader. It becomes immediately obvious that the authors have an amazing anointing and depth of experience in the subject. Also recommend Derek Prince's book 'They Shall Expel Demons'.

The authors I've read who work in the area of spiritual deliverance tend to be sensationalistic and dramatic. Frank Hammond was the opposite. He seems to be the kind of guy who hated the spotlight, yet he worked in deliverance because that was his calling and his gift. A number of times while reading this book, I received confirmations in my spirit that this man was of God and what he said is of God. This book was very helpful to me and my ministry as a pastor.

A powerful book full of Biblical wisdom and personal experiences. I love Frank and Ida's hearts to see others set free. A must read for anyone who feels led to a deeper level of deliverance ministry, and a great read for those who aren't sure if deliverance is real, but may be hungry to know more.

Intersting read, but feels dated
An interesting read, but the material feels a little dated. In spite of the title, there really isn't much how-to advice. This is a good primer on the topic.

This is a story about how to get rid of demons. Most books about demons freak me out but this one did not. This book was recommended by my pastor since I was curious about information on demons and how we can recognize them and stuff like that. I have read the demonologist which scared the shit out of me. Seriously I would wake up for MONTHS after I read that book at 3 AM going OH NO DEMONS ARE GOING TO APPEAR ANY MINUTE NOW TO DRAG MY ASS TO HELL!. I go to church somewhat regularly, but I am f

Some advised me to read this book on demonic spirits. Some of the insight is biblical passages and divine knowledge and wisdom on the topic. Yet, other parts to me is hogwash and can't understand his concepts, so generalized and personalized that I don't believe is biblical (e.g. Persons who yawn or sigh out their demons...p. 52, also on this page speaks about food substances, gag, and other manifestations through nose or mouth). “What is the meaning of the phrase “shall be bound in heaven... shall be loosed in heaven?” Williams, the Bible translator, points out for us that the verb form is the perfect passive participle, so the reference is to things in a state of having been already forbidden (or permitted). This tells us that whatever is bound or loosed by the believer is done on the basis that it has already been done “in heaven,” i.e. by the Lord himself. What is it, then, that the Lord has already bound and which he has given us power to bind again? Jesus teaches us: Or else how can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house. Matt. 12:29 The context of this passage finds Jesus casting out demons. His authority for thus doing is challenged by the religious authorities. They accuse him of doing it by the power of the devil himself. Jesus is explaining that he is able to control demon spirits and make them obey him because he has already bound the strong man — Satan. The fact that the demons obey Him is evidence of Satan being bound. Satan is already bound “in heaven” — by heaven’s power. His power is broken. The key is given to us. We have power over him, too. Amen! The Greek word for “bind” in the passage before us is deo. It means to fasten or tie — as with chains, as an animal tied to keep it from straying. This is glorious! When Satan is bound he is made inoperable. He loses his ability to act against us.” — 2 likes
