Hi,
I need some help with my drivers. Since updating to 8.1 Pro, I've had some errors listed in the Device Manager section. I first noticed there was a problem when exploring the Devices and Printers section. My computer had an exclamation mark on it. I checked the details and it had two Base System Devices listed under 'Other devices' in the Device Manager. I tried right-clicking and updating drivers, but Windows couldn't find anything.
I done some research online, and its turns out it's more than likely a card reader of some sort or possibly missing Bluetooth/wireless software. These seem to be the normal culprits. I'm having trouble identifying exactly what they are though.
I downloaded some driver scanning software. It said I was out of date on 12 components. Windows has me listed as up to date however. I know software such a these are disregarded most of the time for this very reason; they often give outdated or incompatible driver suggestions. i thought it could provide info on the suspects though. no real luck though.
Next I tried accessing the device properties details, which has the the Hardware IDs. This is what's listed:
1.) PCIVEN_1180&DEV_0592&SUBSYS_18771043&REV_12
&
2.) PCIVEN_1180&DEV_0843&SUBSYS_18771043&REV_12
Using this website - www.pcidatabase.com - to decode the info, this is what I got:
Vendor ID: Ricoh (for both)
Device ID: Ricoh R5C833 R5C8xx Memory Stick Controller (both)
Ricoh PCIe Memory Stick Host Controller
Ricoh SD/Host Controller
The download links don't seem to work for me however.
Next I tried to go to my laptop manufacturers site. It's an Asus M51va/M51v. It originally came installed with Vista 32 bit. It's since been upgraded to Windows 8.1 64 bit. Clean install to 8 Pro when it was released, then 8.1. On their support page -http://tiny.cc/jko84w - there are numerous options. What should I download? What confused me too, is that an OS has to be selected, but there's no option for Windows 64 bit 8 or even 7 - is that a problem? Can anyone help me out?
Sorry to have rambled. I'd appreciate any help. For all I know I'm on the wrong path totally. Can anyone provide further instruction or link the correct file?
James
